The Littlest Blue Demon

Hamilton took his first trip to DePaul University to meet the friendly staff at the Commerce Undergraduate Program Office. Freeman and Jenny didn't see him for awhile--but Brooke's undercover pictures reveal that he was just being shown the importance of a well-done curriculum worksheet.

Thanks Taita!

Taita brought Hamilton a bassinet that rocks back and forth. Just yesterday he realized that if he kicked his leg, he would move. Ok, maybe he didn't really realize it--but he did kick every time it slowed down.

First Bath

Hamilton was finally ready for his first bath. We got halfway through it before realizing that this was a typical photo-op (what kind of first-time parents are we?!?).


Despite the expression on his face, he handled the whole bath thing really well. He especially liked being rinsed off with the spray function.




We also realized that the "sweet baby" smell he had up until this point was actually the smell of a dirty baby!

We're thankful for a little one who enjoys resting as much as we do.

Healthy Appetite

Hamilton had his first doctor's appointment on Tuesday and we discovered that our little one has quite the appetite--in less than 5 days, he gained a whopping 4 ounces (weighing him in at 8 lbs. 10 oz.)! Could it be the McDonald's sweet tea? We continue to be so thankful for such a healthy little boy.

We enjoyed our first CTA ride as a family, as well as a leisurely stroll home. Hamilton seemed pretty comfortable in his first ride in a sling (but notice that Jenny is still going to have to practice letting go and enjoying the hands-free approach).







After the appointment, Freeman and Hamilton enjoyed some time together checking out the views from our balcony.

Meet the Family

Hamilton met a lot of his family Sunday. From the Murphy side: his Oompah and Taita, Uncles Sharif and AbdelRahman, and Aunts Amira and Mariam. From the Whitney side: Granddad Whitney. Wow, that's a whole lotta love. Our team is blessed to have such love and support from our families.

He's Home

Everyone's back safely from the hospital, and living with a baby has begun at the Whitney house. Jenny's dad (hereafter known as Oompah Murphy) was gracious enough to drive her home as Freeman took the little man for a stroll through downtown and on to the house. Then, lunch and naps for all.

Hamilton Ibrahim Whitney

We've got a baby boy! Hamilton Ibrahim Whitney was born today at 4:48 p.m. and weighs 8 pounds, 6 ounces and measures 21 inches long. He and Jenny are both doing well.

Hamilton's names are taken from Freeman's family (Hamilton was his grandmother's maiden name) and Jenny's family (Ibrahim is her mother's maiden name). For those new to the name, Ibrahim is pronounced "Ib-ruh-heem" and is the Arabic equivalent of "Abraham."

We praise God for his continued goodness in blessing us in this way. Praise be to our great God.

Still Waiting . . .

For those who might be wondering . . . we're still waiting for the show to begin. Everything continues to look good with both Jenny and the baby's progress, but there seems to be no speed-it-up button we can press. As always, prayer for the health and safety of Jenny and the little one is appreciated.
